
Yaw Appiadu is an advocate and a community leader with years of experience working to move the independent living philosophy forward. He is currently the chair of the New York State Independent Living Council (NYSILC). He previously served as the treasurer for the council. Yaw served as the Assistant Director of an Independent Living Center in Westchester County, New York. He also served as the Executive Director of the Independent Living Center in the Bronx through its transition and relocation period. He oversaw the construction of a modern-accessible office for the center.
Yaw is skilled at building long-term strategic partnerships and is known for his ability to connect with teams, volunteers, and supporters to create a positive community impact. He is also known for his extensive knowledge of health insurance, housing, and advocacy programs. Yaw also has experience in auditing, budgeting, operations, and grant management.
