Génesis is a nonbinary person with Mayan and Nahuat Indigenous roots and Salvadoran/Dominican ancestry. They have collaborated with BIPOC youth and communities towards environmental justice, land/food sovereignty, and health equity through community organizing, policy advocacy, and community-driven participatory science and research.
At Futures Ignite Génesis is helping to grow youth enrichment, leadership, and community programming in Washington Heights through the Clean Air Green Corridor, a youth-led initiative to reimagine streetscapes and sidewalks into hubs for outdoor environmental justice and science education, intergenerational community building, and climate change resilience.
