Erin Bersak LaFarge is is the Director of Safety Policy at the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT), where she leads the development and implementation of Vision Zero initiatives, including automated enforcement, legislative policy, and data-driven safety strategies for all road users. She is also deeply committed to advancing accessibility and equity in transportation safety. Previously, she served as Deputy Chief of Vehicular Crimes at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where she spent 16 years prosecuting advanced vehicular crimes and seeking justice for victims and their families, and was instrumental in the creation of the Vehicular Violence Accountability Act. As a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, Erin is also committed to promoting child safety through proper car seat use. She holds a J.D. from Columbia University and an M.P.A. from NYU, equipping her with a unique blend of legal expertise and public policy acumen to drive meaningful change in transportation safety.
