Erin Bersak LaFarge is an esteemed transportation safety professional with a distinguished career in the City of New York. Currently serving as Director of Safety Policy at the New York City Department of Transportation, she directs the development and implementation of Vision Zero policies. With 16 years of experience as a prosecutor in the New York County District Attorney's Office, culminating as Deputy Chief of the Vehicular Crimes Unit, she served at the forefront of investigating and prosecuting advanced vehicular crimes and ensuring justice for victims and their families. She has contributed significantly to the Vision Zero initiative, collaborating with various agencies to develop and defend transportation policies aimed at eliminating vehicular deaths. Her leadership was pivotal in convening a special grand jury to address vehicular violence, resulting in the drafting of the Vehicular Violence Accountability Act. Complementing her professional endeavors, she serves as a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and actively participates in community engagement initiatives. Holding a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and pursuing an Executive Masters of Public Administration from New York University, she remains dedicated to advancing Vision Zero and enhancing public safety.
