Emily Gallo, AICP, ENV SP has over 15 years of experience serving in various leadership roles in the transportation industry. She is currently Vice President, Director of Infrastructure and Mobility Equity at HNTB Corporation, an infrastructure solutions firm. In this role, she assists transportation agencies, policy makers, community leaders and HNTB teams to address equity considerations in infrastructure planning, design, construction, and operations and maintenance. She joined HNTB in 2019 as the Government Relations Director for the Northeast Division.
From 2014-2019, Emily served as Chief of Staff at the NYC Department of Transportation, where she advanced key agency priorities, including Vision Zero, NYC’s traffic safety initiative to reduce roadway fatalities and injuries to zero, improvements to bus performance on city streets, enhancing accessibility, and expanding the bicycle network and bike share. Emily assembled and promoted a talented and diverse team, and she launched the NYCDOT Future Leaders Program. Previously Emily served as Chief of Staff at the NYC Taxi of Limousine Commission, and as a transportation policy analyst in the NYC Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability.
Emily serves on the Board of the Tri-State Transportation Campaign and is appointed to the Urban Land Institute New York Infrastructure Council. She served as Director-at-Large on the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Greater New York Chapter Board from 2020-2023 and is the founder of the Chapter’s Appointments Committee, which advances women for consideration for Boards, Commissions, and high-level job opportunities. In 2023, she received the WTS Greater New York Chapter Member of the Year Award.
Emily graduated cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in American Studies and received a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design. Emily grew up in Guilford, Connecticut, and currently lives in Washington Heights in Manhattan with her husband and two daughters.
