David Bellairs is the Director of the Cape Town Cycle Tour, an event traditionally attracting in excess of 30 000 participants, where he has played a pivotal role for over 34 years.This event is generally regarded as the World’s Largest Timed Cycle Race. A passionate advocate for cycling, especially in underprivileged areas, he has also served as a committee member of the Pedal Power Association for 34 years and spent four years as Vice President of Cycling South Africa. Bellairs has overseen the growth and evolution of the Cape Town Cycle Tour, introducing inclusive initiatives like the Prelude Challenge and health-focused efforts such as Tim’s Test melanoma screenings. Beyond South Africa, he consults to a number of international mass participation events, sharing his extensive experience in the industry.
