Burns Forsythe serves as the Director of Public Engagement and Project Management in the division of Transportation Planning & Management (TP&M) at the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT). He oversees the Public Engagement Group, also known as the Street Ambassadors, who serve as the primary outreach arm for planning units within the division. The unit consists of 11 multi-lingual transportation specialist who provide critical outreach support for Vision Zero safety initiatives cited in the Agency's Strategic Plan and NYC Streets Plan. This group has been critical to the agency's public engagement strategy and provides support for public input in the Street Improvement Project (SIP) process and explicit goals of project-based outreach and public awareness. Prior to NYC DOT Burns worked on a federal initiative assessing the impact on New York City populations impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
