
Dr. Doris Cintrón is the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Assessment at City College of New York. She holds a doctoral degree in International Education Development from Teachers College, Columbia University, with specializations in linguistics, curriculum, and teaching. Dr. Cintrón’s career is dedicated to empowering disenfranchised communities through education, both in formal and non-formal settings, across national and international contexts.
She has worked with U.S. development agencies, private foundations, the United Nations, and various international organizations, designing educational programs in the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. As Chief of Party or Senior Researcher, Dr. Cintrón has been at the forefront of curriculum development, teacher training, and program evaluation.
At City College, Dr. Cintrón has led the development of multiple Master's programs and played a key role in creating dual language programs in New York City public schools. She has secured millions of dollars in external funding, focusing on the preparation of highly qualified teachers and students for STEM fields.
As Principal Investigator for the STEM Institute, Dr. Cintrón has been instrumental in the Institute’s growth and success, with a particular focus on expanding STEM opportunities for middle and high school students. She has cultivated a strong, ongoing partnership with Commissioner Ydanis Rodríguez, who has been a key supporter of the STEM Institute since his tenure as a NYC City Council Member. This collaboration has led to innovative programs and community engagement, benefiting both students and the city’s infrastructure initiatives.
